What is an LLM degree?

An LLM, or Master of Laws, is a postgraduate law degree. It's designed for law graduates and practising lawyers who wish to specialise in a particular field of law or gain a deeper understanding of the legal system.

How is the ձƬ London LLM course tailored to the new SQE1 requirements?

Our LLM course is structured to address the gaps often found in traditional LLB courses. We cover key subject areas such as Property Practice and Procedure, Law of Succession, Criminal Practice and Evidence, Business Law and Solicitors Accounts, and Dispute Resolution, all essential for the SQE 1 exam.

What is the Postgraduate Major Project in the LLM course?

The Postgraduate Major Project is a unique module where you'll choose a legal subject of interest and undertake an in-depth research project. This project enhances your understanding of the subject and develops research and presentation skills highly valued in the legal profession.

What are the assessment methods in the LLM course?

We employ various assessment methods designed to imbed an understanding of the course content and its application. Apart from practical and written elements, students will also be assessed by MCQ exams in the same format as the SQE1.

How will the LLM course at ձƬ London improve my employability prospects?

The LLM course at ձƬ London equips students with comprehensive knowledge of key legal subjects and practical skills necessary for the legal profession. As a result, you will have a competitive edge in the job market and be well-prepared for the SQE1 exam.

Can I apply if I do not have a law degree?

Students without a law background may apply to the LLM programme, but they need to demonstrate a high level of professional or academic experience in areas closely related to the subjects they wish to study. New graduates who have neither studied law nor passed a conversion course are admitted in exceptional circumstances.

Can I study the LLM part-time?

Yes. The programme can be taken part-time over two years or full-time over one year.

Can I study the LLM programme online (distance learning)?

No, this is not an option.

What do LLM graduates go on to do?

The LLM programme is appropriate for many different career paths. It allows prospective law teachers to develop expertise in particular specialised areas; it enables practitioners to cultivate expertise in new fields; it provides a basis for a career in the city of London or other financial centres; and it offers relevant education and training for those entering the civil service sector, working for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) or preparing for many other professions.
